Line Maintenance: Limited maintenance suitable while aircraft remains in the operational environment (troubleshooting, defect rectification, LRU changes, fluid servicing, ETOPS checks).
Base Maintenance: Any maintenance other than line maintenance—hangar-based letter checks, structural inspections, cabin mods, heavy repairs.
Program Foundations: MSG-3 task-oriented methodology, OEM MRBR/MPD, Airworthiness Directives (AD), Service Bulletins (SB), Corrosion Prevention & Control Program (CPCP), Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS), Zonal/Enhanced Zonal Analysis Procedures (ZAP/EZAP), L/HIRF, RVSM/ETOPS requirements.
Transit/Daily/Weekly checks; ETOPS pre-departure service checks; MEL/CDL control and dispatch release support.
On-wing troubleshooting across avionics (FMS, GPS/IRS, VHF/HF, SATCOM, TCAS, EGPWS), electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, ECS/air systems; BITE data download and analysis.
LRU removal/installation with post-maintenance operational/functional checks (OPC/FNC) per AMM/TSM; software/database loads (FMS/Nav, EGPWS, terrain/obstacle).
Engine on-wing tasks: borescope, vibration balance trend, performance data capture (QAR/ACMS), IDG and servo control R&I, ignition/exciter checks.
Structures/airframe: access panels, fairings, nacelles, thrust reverser rigging checks; minor sheet-metal repairs IAW SRM limits.
Landing gear & brakes: wheel/tire change, pressure/temp monitoring, brake unit swap, NWS functional checks; brake wear pin and axle nut torque recording.
Fuel & oils: refuel/defuel ops, contamination control (water/microbe checks), API/IP compliance, fuel quantity calibration checks; engine/APU oil servicing; hydraulic fluid service and leak rectification.
Cabin & safety: oxygen system servicing, potable/waste servicing, PSU/IFE faults, galley/lavatory rectification, safety equipment periodic checks (ELT, fire bottles, slides checklist by expiry).
Environmental and de/anti-icing operations; pitot-static and AOA probe protection; post-icing inspections.
AOG recovery: fly‑away kits, tow/flat‑tow procedures, power‑up/power‑down and preservation, ferry‑flight prep.
Letter Checks: A/B/C/D-equivalent packages per MPD workpacks; phased check programs and equalized C-checks; MPD task card creation, planning, and closure in MMS.
Structures & CPCP: detailed visual (DVI), special detailed (SDI), non-destructive testing (NDT: UT, ET, RT, PT, MT, shearography, thermography), corrosion mapping and treatment; SRM repairs and major mods (STC).
EWIS & Zonal: EZAP-driven inspections, GVI/DVI/SDI of harnesses, clamps, splices; continuity/insulation resistance tests; bonding/grounding verification; lightning/HIRF protections checks.
Landing Gear: removal/installation, shock strut servicing, side‑stay/drag‑brace checks, bushing replacement, retract/extend tests, gear swing and rigging; shipset change and alignment.
Powerplant & APU: engine/APU removal/installation, QEC build, borescope and hot section inspections, thrust reverser and nacelle structure repairs; on‑wing performance runs where permitted.
Systems: hydraulics (actuators, pumps, PTU), pneumatics/bleed/pack, electrical generation/distribution, avionics installations and upgrades, FADEC/ECU software loads, AFCS/auto‑throttle rigging.
Cabin & Mods: interiors reconfiguration, monuments/seat tracks, IFE upgrades, connectivity (Wi‑Fi/SATCOM), emergency equipment recert; placards/markings and weight & balance updates.
Painting & Composites: full strip & repaint with OEM-approved materials; composite repair (honeycomb/core replacement) using heat blankets/hot‑bond/vacuum‑bag cure and cure log control.
Flight Controls: flap/slat/aileron/elevator/rudder rigging, control cable tension checks, spoiler mixer rigging, FBW actuator health checks and BITE; gust lock and PCU leak checks.
Test & Return to Service: operational/functional checks, leak checks, engine runs, high‑power run‑ups on approved pads, taxi tests, RII (Required Inspection Items) and CRS issuance.
Digital MMS/CMMS with electronic task cards, barcode tooling control, calibration traceability, and configuration control (effectivity/IPC).
Approved data libraries: AMM, SRM, IPC, WDM, FIM/TSM, CMM; engineering orders (EO), repair dispositions, and DER/DOA support.
Regulatory compliance: FAA/EASA/CAAV Part-145, MOE/RSQCM, SMS, HF/FTS training, and internal audit programs; slot management and KPI dashboards (TAT, WIP, deferral rates).
